Lesson two: ho's over bro's!

Rarely, do people live with the same person all four years. Tension arises or they transfer, hoping to find their true calling in the city rather than surrounded by trees... Whatever the case may be, your refrigerator is often shared with another's food every year. To my (and many others) surprise, I have had the same roommate, all four years. While we have not seen each other naked yet, she knows more than what is beneath my clothes.
How is that possible you ask? For us and many others, the answer is boys. Sadly, boys do not just control the way we dress, our color of hair, and "have I gotten fat?" But too often, do they hold the reins on a loyal friendship. "You can't like him! I like him!" That's the first sentence where you should know it's either your friend or new found, fascination. There is only one relationship that will last longer than any friendship and that is marriage. Believe it or not, there are more who graduate without the ring than with.
If you are already in college or entering soon, remember that boy's brains mature slower than girls and hopefully, your friend spends time with you for your charming personality instead of trying to get in your pants. Don't sacrifice a friendship for what might be. With a loyal friend, there is no might be. It already is.

Quote of lesson two:
"Lots of people want to ride with you in a limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down" Oprah Winfrey

Lesson One: no school ain't all that bad

When I went into college, I had a plan. I was going to be a Business major, find some nice Christian boy, and live happily ever after. It came as a shock to me when those evil business t.a.'s, (who must have had a personal grudge against me) graded my test harder than the other students. Because that's how it works, right? And I failed. To avoid having a dreaded "F" on my transcript, I dropped out of the class and vowed to never take another business class. This would make it difficult to be a Business major. So I switched my major... to Education... then Psychology... until I finally landed on English, which is a lesson of its own!
Why did I tell you all of this? Well, it brings us to lesson one: don't be afraid to take a year off after high school. In fact, take two! Or three! Maybe, don't go at all! While you will not find all the answers at 18 years old, it will give you a chance to reevaluate your life and figure out your passions. Remember: this life, is YOUR life. Just because your parents expect you to go, doesn't mean you have to. After all, you are 18... and an adult. That was my favorite line, anyway.
I end this entry with a quote:
"It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop." -Confucius
